I worked alone on this project, and was fortunate enough to art direct this whole thing from start to finish. This opportunity allowed me to help push this product from a idea, to a concept to a thriving business.

Delivereasy is a food delivery service in New Zealand. It easily connects customers to restaurants and allows them to quickly place orders. Deliveryeasy is a web app, with the customer journey at its heart. Everything from ordering experience, the delivery service/interactions, and food quality once delivered is of utmost importance to the success of this project.

The Challenge

The team at Deliver Easy presented a unquie challenge with this project. Their aim was to make it easy to order restaurant quality food and get it delivered directly to your door. They saw a gap in the New Zealand market at the time and new that they needed a product which was intuitive, easy to use and that looked great. 

The challenge was unique yet straightforward. Design and build an unbeatable food delivery service in a market with big competition. Delivereasy has fantastic selling points which delight the user and allow them to build solid relationships with their customer base. It was up to me to figure out how to best deliver this from a visual and user experience perspective.

To get a better understanding of the market delivereasy was entering we knew that we had to get an understanding of the competition that was currently in New Zealand. In order to do this we had to find who the main competitors were and analise all their products. I've created the below chart to give you a quick rundown on our findings.

It all started with research, we needed to find out what worked and what clearly didnt. From there it was time to wireframe, and wireframe I did! 

Once I understood the scope of the problem we were trying to solve, I was ready to colate the research, sketch some designs and then wireframe my findings. During this process, I was able to get fast feedback from the founders and make edits accordingly. This part of the process was fantastic as they really got to see the vision come to life.

Simple & easy to navigate

From the get-go, I knew this website had to be clean and easy to navigate. Considering the main goal of delivereasy is for users to find their location and then search the restaurants available, a location search was placed front and center.  

Explanation and restaurant proof

To begin, with we wanted a really brief explanation of how this thing worked. It needed to depict the whole process in an easy to understand way. Along with this, we wanted to push some of the great restaurants that delivereasy was associated with.

Two key components to the homepage were letting both drivers and restaurants know that they are able to sign up to work with delivereasy. This was important to add to the ever-growing list of restaurants creating more variety for end users.

Developing the checkout process

A key part of this design was creating a checkout process that was easy to understand and even easier to place an order. The goal here was to compress the normal dining experience into a couple of straightforward steps.

Delivereasy 2.0 - The future of the product

The Approach

Delivereasy has grown at a rapid pace since it's inception and they know have 100+ drivers across Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Dunedin. As the business continues to grow and spread across New Zealand, we found that it was time to update things from the initial designs.

  • The User experience needed to be made hassle-free, therefore improving the onboarding experience

  • Improvements to code to make sure the site reacts and loads as fast as possible

  • A more friendly colour scheme which is aimed to brighten the feel of the website as well as removing any clutter as users understand how the product works now

  • Updates to the menu, ordering and checkout pages.

From the data collected during the first iteration of delivereasy, we found that there were a number of factors that mattered to customers. These are the areas we focused on improving with the latest version and will continue to build and iterate on into the future.

Customers expect their delivery in a timely fashion. Making sure that they are kept aware of how long their meal was away from their door was key.

The website needed to be straightforward and easy for people from all walks of life to use. Users needed to quickly be able to find food near them and easily order it.

People want selection. This one was a no-brainer, working closely with great restaurants makes it possible to offer a greater selection.

Taking an MVP from zero to where it's at now has been a massively rewarding task.
